“Gathering Evidence for RPL” What is involved in your RPL process

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) requires assessment of a persons level of learning to determine their ability to complete VET qualifications.  This requires assessment against a benchmark without specific training.

RPL is particularly useful for mature-age jobseekers and existing workers with accumulated life and work experiences.

Many models for RPL exist.  They must be conclusive without over-assessment. Insources discusses candidate preparation, assessment options, valuation methods and assessment tools to help you in the process.

Skills Tasmania seeking applications from RTOs for funding for the User Choice Program 2014

The User Choice program, is aimed at providing funding to RTOs for training and assessment of trainees and apprentices.  All RTOs are eligible to apply for a User Choice contract each calendar year.

RTO’s need to submit their applications between 1st October and 1st December 2013 to receive funding for 2014.  Applications can be submitted after December 1st but may not be processed by the New Year.skills-tas

The Australian Council for Private Education and Training has prepared the ACPET WA Private Provider Forum for 2013 to discuss “The Role of the Education and Training Industry in the Post Mining Boom Economy” and is scheduled for Friday 18th October 2013

The forum provides an opportunity reflect on the current education and training systems, to learn the current governments position, open debate and formulate responses.

New Rules for Vegetation Management Work near Overhead Powerlines by Non Electrical Workers

Electricity Safety Regulations in 2009 defined minimum distances from power lines for people, tools, equipment and plant. However vegetation management work was exempted from complying to these distances.

The Blue Book, revised in 2012, now incorporates a sub-section to clarify requirements for vegetation management work near power lines by non-electrical workers.

Energy Safe Victoria has provided the Electrical Safety Rules and the Training Approval Statement for download on their page.

If you’re involved in the manufacturing industry, now is the time to have your say on workforce development, training and the VET sector.

Why contribute?  Your insight helps MSA to create a accurate understanding of current and emerging skill requirements for workforce development and for future development of the industry.

Surveys are open for enterprises and RTOs.  Survey submissions close 5pm, Friday 4th October, 2013. While you’re there pick up a copy of the 2013 EScan report.
